Yea, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Last few years under Whitmarsh we've done well in the Winter Championships only to fall flat on our damn face come Australia.

What we (McLaren fans) really need is Hamilton back or hope Magnuson is another Hamilton....never really rated Button as a driver.....nice bloke and all that (apart from contract breaker) but he just isn't that fast if the car isn't perfect. Oh and I am happy Ron is back....looking forward to having a chat with him sometime....

Well, memories are very short these days.

Back when Lewis was first given the ride, everybody but me was against it. Everybody was sure it was the wrong move. But what I said was this:

It's about time. We've had this drivers development program for years and never used it but once. His name: Mika Hakinnen. So let's give the kid a chance. If we don't use our own development program, why bother even having it?

Another guy from our program is Nick Heidfeld. So the program DOES work. I expect good things from Magnuson. I really do. In fact, I fully expect him to beat Jenson. You heard it here first.

Magnuson is going to be just fine. It's the car I'm worried about. Martin hasn't built anything the last 4 years but a good case of hemorrhoids, so I'm more than a bit concerned over this car. The only plus we have going for us right now I think is the Mercedes engine.

We'll see when the season starts, but I've been screwed by too many winter championships lately only to fall flat on our face to really put stock in having the fast lap at this stage of the game.

I think so to. I'm really charged and looking forward to seeing him beat Jenson. I like Jenson, don't get me wrong...but I've never thought he was Team Leader material. He's been good to us and that counts for a lot, but he's just a good bring it home driver. You can count on him. But he's just not the guy that will go out there, take the bull by the horns and kick the **** out of it.

I think Magnuson is.

So 2 weeks to go.  Anyone want to call a winner and first breakdown/non-starter?

I think EVERYBODY with Renault power is questionable...but of them all I look for Red Bull to fail the hardest. I predicted this last year over at Sportnetwork. Adrian will keep designing a car to the max, no matter what power plant or system he has to work with. That's always been his Achilles heel: If you don't give him the best of everything, he can't compensate for anything at all and it ends in disaster.

I think Williams are going to surprise us all. They can steal a podium at Oz and probably will.

McLaren will fair reasonably well. Barring the two Mercedes cars, we can take a podium as well.
